CITY OF BURIEN COMMUNITY CENTER EXHIBITION
June–July Exhibition | Burien Community Center
This work does not ask for permission to be felt.
It lives in the space between stillness and intensity, where emotion rises before language can catch it. These pieces were created by staying present long enough to let something real surface. Not polished. Not explained. Just honest.
Color carries the weight here. It holds tension, release, memory, and movement all at once. What looks vibrant from a distance holds something deeper up close. There is a push and pull between control and surrender in every piece.
This collection is about being inside the experience instead of observing it. About identity that shifts, landscapes that feel alive, and moments that refuse to be simplified.
You are not here to just look. You are here to feel something. Whatever comes up is part of the work.
On view throughout June and July at the Burien Community Center in collaboration with the Burien Arts Association.
Reception date coming soon. Come stand in it.
TACOMA ART MUSEUM GALA
For this year’s sold-out TAM Gala, I am honored to contribute three original works to be exhibited and offered at auction in support of the museum and its ongoing commitment to arts, culture, and community.
Each piece carries its own quiet intensity, an exploration of movement, stillness, and the emotional landscapes that live between. Created through layered texture and intentional mark-making, these works invite the viewer to pause, to feel, and to step into a moment that is both deeply personal and universally understood.
To be included in an evening that celebrates creativity at this level, surrounded by collectors, patrons, and advocates of the arts, is something I hold with deep gratitude. Supporting the museum means investing in access, education, and the continued elevation of artistic voices, and I am proud to be part of that story.
These works were created not only to be seen, but to be experienced, and ultimately to find a home where their energy can continue to live and resonate.
PAINT FIGHT PDX
Paint Fight PDX is a high-energy live painting competition where artists go head to head in a three round art battle. In the first two rounds, selected artists each have 30 minutes to create a piece on a fresh 18”x24” canvas. The audience then votes to choose the top two artists, who advance to a final round and begin again on a brand new canvas for the ultimate showdown.
This interactive event invites attendees to be part of the experience. Watch the creative process unfold in real time, cast your vote, and witness the final face off between top competitors.
All artwork created during the event is auctioned live, with artists keeping 100 percent of their sales. Bidding starts at $50, and unsold pieces go home with the artist. Each participating artist receives $50 for competing, with an additional $100 awarded to the final round winner.
As a returning top ranking finalist who was pushed into a tie breaking round and narrowly defeated, I am stepping back into the arena ready to wrestle my paint brushes into a win.
Paint Fight PDX is where creativity meets competition.
Awaken , a new universe
Awaken, A New Universe
An Art Exhibition by Kat Templeton
Saturday, July 12th | 3–8 PM
Studio 42 | Poulsbo, WA
Step into a realm where color speaks, energy pulses, and nature transcends its form.
Awaken. A New Universe is a transformative new series by Pacific Northwest artist Kat Templeton, unveiling a vibrant, symbolic cosmos born from reconnection—with self, earth, and the spirit that binds them. Through kinetic brushwork, immersive landscapes, and visionary imagery, Templeton invites viewers to explore an existence reimagined.
From the sacred tides of the Puget Sound to the electric stillness of oldgrowth forests, to the mythic guardianship of A Earth herself this collection dissolves the ordinary and builds a bridge into a wild, vital, and luminous new world. Each painting is a portal. Each moment in front of the canvas, an awakening.
Join us in celebrating this powerful debut at Studio 42, and experience the launch of a universe where the future feels sacred, surreal, and alive.
